Modern meets Classic in two gut-renovated 1890’s condominiums into a single-family unit. The combination of two Upper-East side apartments mixes contemporary design with classic sophistication. A major focus on the project was the family kitchen and the ability to entertain guests. To achieve this goal, the wall separating the living/dining room and the kitchen was removed. To achieve this a structurally engineered opening through a load bearing wall separating the spaces was made. Another key feature was a direct line of travel through the apartment. This allowed for efficiency in the use of space, giving more area to the kitchen and living spaces while reducing the hallway area.
